a contract agreements. and schwab & amertride are reportedly closing some offices in the e.u. john brady of rj o'brien joins us now. john, jobs are on tap this morning. > > expectations are for non- farm payrolls in the month of september to reach plus 100,000, while the unemployment rate, which was 8.1% in august, should uptick to 8.2%. this is a very sensitive report, not just for the markets but for the general election, as there will be one more employment report after today ahead of the tuesday, november 6th, election. so, i think the most import number is probably the unemployment rate. that tends to get splashed across newspapers on saturday morning. should come in right around 8.2%. but, likewise within the non-farm payroll number, there's going to be a big difference this month between plus 100,000 and plus 90,000. the incumbent president, of course, would like to see a 6-digit figure rather than a 5-digit figure, so it is a very important number for politics moving forward. > > john, what a week for oil. oil had a big spurt yesterday. > > i think there was probably a little mor

is john newlin, president of the entertainment commission. i, however, and not john newlin. i have more hair than john newlin. but i am vice chair of the commission. permit compliance is up. the violence is down. a variety of entertainment is what makes our city great. we will touch on the upcoming party legislation -- party bus legislation and a safe place for our youth to go. after our panel discussion will have some regard groups so we can share ideas and brainstorm. we have a very luminary panel here. right now, i would like to introduce our cheap -- chief of police. . and some think prices could top the all time average of $4.61. ktvu's john sasaki is here to tell us what is driving all of this. john? >> reporter: three different gas stations, you can see how high prices are. $4.31. $4.73 and $4.75. prices jumped in the past week across the bay area and the state. not because of shortage of crude oil. this jump is do to a slowing in production that started with the chevron refinery. we met with the president of robinson oil who says whole sale gas prices gone up a dollar in less than two weeks. >> over the last week or so there have been other problems. the most ceasier is the exxon mobil in torrance -- recent is the exxon mobil in torrance. >> i don't believe that. >> reporter: he said the last time he was selling $4.59, crude oil was selling $61 higher than today. prices should drop once they get back to their normal production levels. john sasaki, ktvu channel 2 news. >> more details now on gas prices. we checked aaa and the average for a gallon in oakland went up 9 cents over night to $4.34. in san francisco the average is $4.42. san jose drivers w

candidates were john kerry. it is really funny because she and tom vilsack apparently had been washington. she told the story and they went to see the kerry staff for something on agriculture, so they send are being interviewed. she told me she had been up added by the kerry campaign, but her name got out there. once famous out there, the media starts paying attention. people were fascinated by the fact here is a democrat whose one and a. whatever they forgot over the last 47 years as he had more in governorship years then we had republicans. but it was not an anomaly. the press often doesn't have an historical memory. it was like this is a real anomaly in kansas as this democrat has been elected. i think her father governor of ohio had the ohio connection, which is a very state. so she really captured the national attention very quickly. and they had her showcased at conventions and all. but then by 2008, she really was becoming a serious, serious contender for vice president and when she endorsed obama, that also moved her stock. if you're a member come issues in the running. she was on

name is john doll and i promise to be brief. this is a follow up to an information item that was presented two weeks ago. regarding a staff recommendation for a selection process for the pier 38 rehabilitation project. at that time, port commissioners provided input with this selection process. as noted in the staff report, commissioners inquired whether there was a way to rehab and retenant the bulkhead building quickly and also develop a way to consider developer qualifications for long-term plan for the rest of pier 38. there was also a certain whether there was a way to improve the physical appearance of the pier 38 shed. and finally there was an inquiry whether or not there was a pose blts to engage the developers one for the bulkhead project and the longer term redevelopment of pier 38. in response to this input, the staff has listened and recommends the following pier 38 project objectivities that would be inserted into the rfp. one, top priority would be to quickly repair and reteb ant the pier 38 bulkhead and two, respondent to this rsp process may submit to a m
